On Saturday morning just before 9am, fire trucks screamed to North 22nd and R Streets in Fairmount, where a house had gone up in flames. Per a press release issued later that day by the city of Richmond, the blaze was deadly (emphasis mine):

Shortly after crews arrived on scene, a partial structural collapse occurred. A 70-year-old female was located on the first floor and pronounced deceased at the scene. A second victim, a 10-year-old male, was later located on the second floor and also pronounced deceased.

A third occupant, a 56-year-old male, was transported to MCV. The extent of his injuries is not available at this time.

The Lookout stopped by the scene on Sunday morning and snapped photos of the damage at the house, located at 1123 N. 22nd St. The houses on either side of the affected property sustained visible damage on the siding that faced the flames. On the stoop, mourners had placed bouquets and a stuffed animal.
