On August 15th, 2025, Samuel B. Parker published an article at The Richmond Times-Dispatch entitled “Richmond's deputy inspector general no longer works for the city. Officials won't say why.” It details the official omertà on the unexplained departure of City Hall’s former Deputy Inspector General Craig Johnson.

Parker reported (emphasis mine):

Neither City Council President Cynthia Newbille nor Vice President Katherine Jordan responded to requests for comment. City Council spokesperson Steve Skinner said, “Council has no comment to provide.”

This Lookout item was published on April 16th, 2026 to archive my Bluesky post about Parker’s story when it came out. For clarity, I’ve backdated this item to that earlier date.
